X-Cross Blue Line
Dehumidification and heat recovery for swimming pools
A pool hall evaporates water all the time. That vapour has to go, and with the classic approach the heat goes out with it. The X-Cross takes the heat out of that humid air and returns it to the pool water.

What goes wrong without it
- misted-up windows
- a smell of chlorine
- a structure that rusts
- a gas bill that nobody can explain any more
What the X-Cross Blue Line does
The X-Cross recovers heat from air that you have to dehumidify anyway. That heat does not go outside: it goes back into the pool water. Energy demand falls, without the climate in the hall getting worse.
- All-in-one unit. Heating, cooling and dehumidification in one unit; no separate installations.
- Climate within the band. Active dehumidification with heat recovery. How often your climate leaves the band, we calculate for your space.
- Less CO₂. Electric instead of gas. How much you save depends on your electricity. In the report we calculate with your own contract.
- Decentralised. Each unit works on its own. If one fails, the others keep running.
The Blue Line in figures
The range from Wagenaar Refrigeration, per unit. The figures are indicative: there is no completed pool with measured data yet. Which unit suits your pool follows from the calculation for your water surface, your use and your building.

Data from Wagenaar Refrigeration. Dehumidification and heat of evaporation do not depend on the weather outside; the condition of the hall air is fixed per project. The electrical power is the average power input. With additional heating, the heating capacity can be higher.
- Efficiency. For heating, 4.0 to 4.1 at +4 °C outdoors and 3.75 at −7 °C. Counting the recovered heat of evaporation, 6.8 to 6.9 and 8.3. That is our calculation for the range, not a measurement.
- Over a full year. System SCOP 6.9: our seasonal calculation with the weather of De Bilt (2021 to 2025), including the recovered heat of evaporation.
- Design. Two air decks with one counterflow heat exchanger, 100% electric, no gas in the unit. Corrosion-resistant, also for existing pools. In cold weather an evaporator on the roof draws extra heat from the outdoor air.
- Controls. Its own controller, with BACnet or Modbus to your building management system, or standalone. The unit measures trichloramine (NCl3) continuously and controls on it. All sensors and meters are included in the supply.
What you get from us
A calculation using your own figures: your space, your use and your energy prices. The report shows the latent and the sensible load separately, with the standards and the assumptions, so that you and your adviser can check every step. Anything we do not know, we call an assumption.

Standards we calculate with
- VDI 2089-1 (pool evaporation)
- NEN-EN 13779 and NEN-EN 16798 (ventilation)
- ISSO 32 (Dutch guideline for swimming pool installations)
- NEN-EN 14511 (heat pump performance)
Questions we are often asked
How does pool dehumidification with heat recovery work?
The unit removes the water that evaporates from the pool from the hall air. The heat contained in that vapour does not go outside but back into the pool water. So you dehumidify the hall and recover heat at the same time.
Will the windows still mist up on a cold morning?
The X-Cross removes moisture from the hall air day and night. How dry the glass stays depends on your glazing and the weather. We calculate that for your hall.
What will the air in the hall feel like?
The unit keeps the humidity at the value you set and refreshes the air. How the air flows through your hall is part of our design.
How do I reach the filters and the refrigeration equipment?
We plan fixed service areas and safe access around the unit. Where the doors go is decided per project.
How many separate machines do I need to fit in?
One unit that dehumidifies, heats and recovers heat. You receive the connection dimensions for your hall with the calculation.
What will this save on my energy bill?
That depends on your hall, your pool and your prices. The quick scan in the 3D world gives a first indication. We make the real calculation using your figures.
Does a pool unit qualify for the Dutch EIA?
For businesses taxed in the Netherlands: the RVO Energy List 2026 includes an air handling unit for swimming pools under code 210807, with requirements such as an integrated heat pump and a heat recovery efficiency of at least 73%. We confirm per project whether a unit qualifies. Read more about Dutch tax incentives.
